Coding Lessons

Scratch

Scratch is a visual programming invented by MIT, which can be used to create animations, games, do presentations, compose songs, operate webcam, or even run Arduino and robots! (Picobot, Lego Wedo, Lego NXT, mBot, Moway, Raspberry Pi etc).  For more information, you may refer to

 

 

 

Simply Scratch (Level 1)

We teach the fundamentals of Scratch which consists of simple, easy to understand colourful programming blocks so that they can create animations, music, simple games and even do mathematics.

  • 6 lessons course 

  • Each lesson is 2 hours

  • Each Steamist needs to bring his/her own laptop.

  • Each Steamist will bring their own creations of animations, games and music each lesson.

​

 

Scratch With Robots (Level 2)

  • 8 lessons course

  • Each lesson is 2 hours

  • Pre-requisite of the course is Simply Scratch (Refer to above) or with a basic Scratch background learned outside

  • First starts with a sensor board called Picoboard.

  • After that lessons will advance to robots like Wedo, Moway, mbot

Micro:bit

​

Microbit is a micro-computer invented by BBC, which can be used to make into robots, machines or musical instruments for learning and have fun!  The coding is based on JavaScript but STEAMists can use the online MakeCode Editor in the microbit website here.

Microbit Lessons

​

  • 6 lessons course

  • Steamists will learn how to set up microbit and basic electrical concepts.

  • Coding with the block based MakeCode Editor and how to download the program into the microbit will also be taught.

  • Steamists will then be grouped by the teacher to make a robot or machine using microbit.

  • If time persists, each steamist will tend to create a robot or machine using microbit out of his/her own choice.

Apart from regular lessons, we also provide learning camps for birthday parties or other events in your home, company, student care centre etc!!
