Welcome to ScienceArt Engine!  It is a learning centre of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM).  All students and teachers who are involved in STEAM, are known as 'STEAMists' here!  This learning centre is more like a hub, where not only students learn but also teachers, parents and other staffs. Everyone has the right to take up a course, learn non-stop regardless of age, level, race, background, gender, sexual orientation, height, abilities, looks and other differences, so long there is passion in at least one of these: arts, science, mathematics, engineering or technology.

It was started as Beam the Science in 2009, which consisted only a small classroom rented from a student care centre in Hougang.  It provided small group tuitions for students from primary to JC levels, focusing on Sciences and Mathematics.  It was a small success.  However, there was restricted space for learning and publicity since it was a single classroom in a bomb shelter after all.  In addition, incorporation of more hands-on and fun in learning instead of just traditional pen-and-paper style is preferred.  Innovation, creativity and experiments are important.  I wish to encourage learning in Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics for everyone (not just for kids and teens!).  This is to emphasize that Sciences, Mathematics, arts are not just subjects for exams but are all round us: the beauty, arts and language of Nature.  Sciences, especially Physics, are not complete without experiments.

In order to gain more exposure, I helped out in experiments demonstrations in Science Centre Singapore, Scientist for a Day, from 2013 to 2015.  There I demonstrated experiments to public of all works of life and various countries.  I have even designed some my own.  You can view them at Portfolio

In conclusion, to all passionate about sciences and mathematics, let's work together and cutivate scientific mindset and wisdom in us, regardless of ages.

Explanation for the Logo

A logo of a learning centre which focus on STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. Try to guess what is the logo? It is a supersonic aircraft. The arrow represents the aircraft with highly swept back wings, the rings represent the sonic compression waves, while the yellow is of course the exhaust from the engines. A supersonic aircraft has to undergo adverse and terrible transonic stage of shock stall due to the drastic normal shock waves that occur at its wings. If it persists in increasing its speed and also it has a suitable aerofoil shape and swept back wings made for supersonic aircraft, it will get over the transonic stage and enter the supersonic stage when the normal shock waves move to the back of its wings and attack to the trailing edge of the aerofoil. Here it no longer experiences the terrible effects of shock stall. If the aircraft does not persist in increasing its speed further and gives up halfway, it will never reach supersonic and remains at transonic stage, suffering the terrible effects. The swept wings hide the aircraft behind the shockwave so that it does not suffer the effects.

And the same goes for us! When we enter something, usually an adverse learning process, we should not give up, unless we have no interest in it, though interest can still be discovered through exposure or engaging in certain activities after a period of time. If we have the interest, we should persist like a supersonic aircraft. In addition, learning how to adapt and ignore those unnecessary stuffs or people who disturb or distract you, is just like having the special aerodynamics features that a supersonic aircraft has. And then we can go on further!
